Dalmau predicts that “all” PP autonomous regions will benefit from the FLA debt relief

Barcelona - CET
The Minister of the Presidency of the Generalitat, Albert Dalmau, predicted this Tuesday that “all” the autonomous communities governed by the PP will benefit from the debt forgiveness with the Autonomous Liquidity Fund (FLA). “I bet a lot that all of them will participate” in the debt forgiveness, said Dalmau in statements to TV3. The Government of Pedro Sánchez has proposed to forgive 83,000 million to the communities after the agreement with ERC. The most benefited by the debt forgiveness, in absolute terms, will be Andalusia, Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Madrid.
“This is a good agreement for Catalonia that also benefits communities governed by the PP. What will they do? Will they not participate in the reduction? I bet a lot that they will all participate,” said Dalmau. The proposal from the Ministry of Finance must be approved tomorrow Wednesday by the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF) and to come into force it must also take the form of an organic law and be approved by Congress.
For her part, the spokesperson for the Republicans in Congress is confident that Junts will vote in favour of the agreement by which the State forgives part of the debt of the Generalitat and reproaches Puigdemont's party for "encouraging the growth of certain movements in favour of the arrival of the right and the extreme right" with their movements. It is not the final stop, it is just one more step on the road to "full sovereignty". From Esquerra Republicana they celebrate that, finally, Pedro Sánchez's government has kept its promise to forgive part of the Generalitat's debt to the State, money pending repayment from the Autonomous Liquidity Fund, which was activated in times of crisis by Mariano Rajoy's government to finance the autonomous governments and which later had to be returned with interest. "It was a perversion," said the spokesperson for ERC in Parliament in an interview on Aquí Catalunya on Ser Catalunya .
“They left us our money and we also had to pay interest,” recalls Ester Capella, who estimates this gap at more than 40% of the Catalan budget. If this reduction ends up being made effective, it will mean “saving the payment of more than 1,000 million euros annually.” A “breath of fresh air”, an “important step” for Catalonia, she stressed, which “would not understand” if it did not have the support of Junts. In any case, despite this step, Esquerra rules out that this will serve to open negotiations to approve Salvador Illa’s budget.
